While many fans enjoyed the complications of the Doctor-Amy-Rory dynamic last season, Gillan considers her character beyond that now. “I don’t really think there’s a love triangle, certainly not anymore,” she says. “I think Amy and the Doctor have got past that sort of thing.”

She believes playing Amy as a wife this season will be interesting.

“I mean, she such an unlikely wife, but there she is, married, with her husband, on the TARDIS. So I think there’s lots of fun to be created in that.”
